ARTIST BIO

My name is Juan Guevara. I come from a big family and I’m a first generation Hispanic- American. Both of my parent are from El Salvador. I grow up in the suburb of Washington DC. I had trouble learning English. I was in ESL class until middle school. I always loved art, because it was a class that I understood. It didn’t require to know English.  I am the first person to go to college and it was a shock because I had never been away from my family and it wasn’t easy. I ended up dropping out, because I didn’t make grades. I ended up going to community college for that year and returning to Longwood University afterwards. I started to get in to printmaking in community college and when I came back to Longwood I changed my major and have been printing ever since. I am a printer and a book artist.
